Snoop Dogg, Warren G & Dogg Pound Honor Nate Dogg At SXSW

The entire music industry was in Austin, Texas over the weekend, taking part in the festivities of the annual SXSW music festival, during which Nate Dogg — who passed away days before — was honored.

Wiz Khalifa, paid tribute to the late west coast legend on Thursday (March 17). Then on Saturday (March 19), Nate’s longtime friends, Snoop Dogg and Warren G, honored their fallen friend during the annual Respect The West showcase.

Wearing memorial white tees, emblazoned with the picture of Nate Dogg on the front, Snoop and company ran through several Dogg Pound and Death Row classics like “Lay Low,” “The Next Episode”, and “21 Questions.”

At one point during their set, Snoop also memorialized Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G., but explained that the loss of Nate Dogg was “a little more heart-wrenching.”

“That’s like my brother,” he told the crowd “Me and Nate were friends since 1986, so it’s a little bit deeper…This is somebody who started with me. We dreamed the same dream and our dreams came true, and now he’s no longer with us. So it’s a little hard to deal with, but in the spirit of Nate Dogg we’re dealing with it because we know he would want us to celebrate and have a good time. That’s the spirit he possessed.”
